Eine schöne Entdeckung haben wir auf dem »Salon des Vins de Loire« in Angers gemacht! Das Weingut Laurent Mabileau (Jetzt Domaine du Moulin Neuf) ist 1985 gegründet worden und ca. 28 ha groß. Auf zwei Appellationen (Bourgueil und St-Nicolas de Bourgueil) baut Laurent ausschließlich Cabernet Franc an.

In St-Nicolas de Bourgueil fallen die Weine normalerweise etwas kräftiger aus, aber allgemein sind diese Cabernets von der Loire eher leichtere Weine, die man mittags zur Brotzeit trinkt. Echte traditionelle französische Weine, weit entfernt von Mode-Erscheinungen und trendy »RebsortenWeine«. Heutzutage ist die Domaine Mabileau eine Referenz für diesen Stil.

Die Rebsorte Cabernet Franc ist vielleicht nicht so berühmt wie ihr Bruder Cabernet Sauvignon, sie ist aber genau so viel verbreitet. Der Cabernet Franc ist an der Loire und im Bordeauxgebiet zu Hause und bietet Weine, die etwas frischer und leichter sind. Bei hoher Reife besitzen sie eine sehr elegante Frucht und eine gute Struktur. Der Jahrgang 2018 war eher warm, so kann dieser Wein die volle Palette der Cabernet-Frucht zeigen: Cassis und Kirsche mit Kräuter-Anklägen! Ein exzellenter Aperitif bzw. „Mittags-Genuß“, zu Brot, Wurst und Käse. Man trinkt ihn übrigens eher leicht gekühlt (14-16 Grad).
