Mitten im Salento-Gebiet (der »Absatz« Italiens) findet man die Cantine Ionis in der kleinen Stadt Martina Franca, nahe Tarent. Das Weingut wurde 1970 von Giulio Palmisano gegründet und er verkaufte lange seine Trauben nur an große Kellereien. Die jungen Brüder Palmisano, Söhne von Giulio, leiten heute die Weinproduktion und haben das Weingut mit deren eigenen Abfüllungen zu einem der modernsten der Region gemacht. Vor allem die lokalen Rebsorten werden hier angebaut: Primitivo und Negroamaro sind die wichtigsten. Die Weine sind modern und fruchtbetont.

Diese Cuvée aus den einheimischen Sorten Negroamaro und Malvasia Nera besticht durch ihre Dichte und Samtigkeit. Die vollreife Frucht ist hier sehr ausgeprägt, tief und würzig. Pflaumen-, Rosinen- und Cassisnoten sind dabei. Im Mund ist der Wein besonders fruchtbetont, cremig und samtig mit milder Säure und sehr zarter Tanninstruktur.
